Duplex home designs

A residential Duplex building consists of two stand-alone homes or units joined together by a central wall. The unique Duplex design means that each unit has its own address number, entrance, driveway and front and back gardens, and no internal rooms or amenities are shared.

Both properties can either be on the same land title or sit on separate titles and be individually owned, rented and sold. Building insurance policies need to cover both sides of a Duplex home and sometimes a body corporate is required if the homes are registered under a strata title.

Here at Eagle Homes, we build three main types of stylish Duplex homes. The most common is the single-storey Duplex. This means both homes are built on one level and separated by a vertical middle wall. The middle wall either stands between each home’s front door or garage. Two-storey Duplex designs and narrow Duplexes are becoming popular too, consisting of two double-storey units that share a common centre wall. And the corner Duplex is the most creative and flexible of the Duplex house plans. It has two street frontages, multiple access points and the internal layout of each home is usually completely different.
